About Porter, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Porter, Texas is an incorporated community located in Montgomery County. Found in the southeastern portion of the state, Porter is home to about 26,000 people and is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Metro Area. Porter has easy access to larger communities and cities via Interstate 69 and State Highway 99, which can take travelers into Houston. Education is important to residents, and Porter has been part of the New Caney Independently School District since 1965.

Despite its unincorporated status, there are several places to visit in Porter. There are many restaurants in Porter ranging from chains like IHOP and Captain D’s to local establishment such as Hofbrau Steaks, 777 Hunan Cuisine, and Pueblo Viejo. Likewise, Porter is home to major retailers like Walmart and Big Lots, but residents in search of a deal might wish to check out Familytime Thrift Shop. Outdoor recreation is also popular in the area, and visitors may enjoy camping at the Porter RV Park.

To live comfortable in Porter, residents must be prepared with proper climate controls at home. This is especially true during the summer months, at which point temperatures often become brutally hot. Temperatures reach the upper-90s, and the air is humid. High dew points can lead to heat indices of 100 or higher, so central air conditioning is a necessity at home. These units are preferred over window units for their superior safety and ability to consistently cool an entire home.

Other weather extremes occur during the winter months, although they are less dramatic than other parts of the U.S. Temperatures are mild to cool, and averages reach the upper-50s. Snow is rare, and when it does occur, it doesn’t stick. Still, residents should be prepared for cold weather with a high AFUE gas or electric furnace or an energy efficient heat pump.
